Horst "Dutch" Stuhr is born in Hamburg, Germany.
Dutch migrates to the United States with $17 in his pocket and completes his apprenticeship in the tool-and-die trade in Marengo, Illinois.
Dutch is drafted into the United States Army and meets Ruth Merolt, in Munich, Germany, where he is stationed.
Dutch and Ruth marry in Munich, where their daughter, Gloria, is born.
Dutch is honorably discharged and the family moves to Rockford.
Dutch becomes one of seven partners at Reliable.
Dutch becomes sole owner of Reliable and seizes the opportunity for growth by transforming the company from a tool-and-die shop to a production shop of quality metal-stampings and assemblies.
Reliable completes its second expansion and begins the process of value add.
Gloria joins the company as the secretary-treasurer.
1996 - 1998
A $4 million expansion project creates a 22,000 square-foot addition to Plant 1, including a 600-ton Bliss, 220-ton Komatsu and a 165-ton Komatsu.
Reliable receives QS9000 certification.
Reliable purchases two 500-ton Minster presses
Gloria becomes CEO. Reliable completes its fourth expansion by purchasing Plant 3 and increasing its operations to 150,000 square feet.
Reliable achieves ISO/TS 16949 certification.
Gloria receives ASM International Chairman’s Award as the Rockford Chapter’s Businesswoman of the Year and becomes partner
Gloria succeeds her father and becomes sole owner.
Reliable develops a green-energy plan, investing $500,000 in green lighting throughout all three plants and using renewable energy sourced from wind energy facilities throughout the United States.
Reliable wins certification from Women’s Business Enterprise.
Reliable invests $250,000 to upgrade its 500-ton Minster Hevi-Stamper press.
Reliable passes certification to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard with zero non-conformances.
